PERCEIVED INFLUENCE OF LEARNING ENVIRONMENT ON ATTITUDE AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF BUSINESS EDUCATION STUDENTS

Abstract


A conducive learning environment is not merely a physical space; it is a realm where students find safety, support, and inspiration in their pursuit of knowledge. Positive learning attitudes contribute to the creation of business education programs tailored to national needs. The way students approach their learning journey profoundly impacts the development of business education programs tailored to the nation's unique needs. However, this endeavor is intricate, influenced by a myriad of variables that significantly shape students' academic performance. This study investigates a population of 4,809 business education students enrolled in public universities within the south-western region, with a sample of 356 students determined in collaboration with Research Advisors. Data was collected through a questionnaire featuring 20 items, providing a comprehensive dataset for analysis. The findings of this study illuminate the remarkable influence of the learning environment on students' attitudes towards learning and their subsequent academic performance in business education courses. A nurturing learning environment, characterized by supportive teaching practices, well-equipped classrooms, and a sense of belonging, was identified as a catalyst for inspiring students to adopt positive attitudes towards their studies, ultimately resulting in enhanced academic achievements. Given these compelling results, it is strongly recommended that educational institutions take a proactive approach to design student-centered learning environments. These environments should encourage active participation, critical thinking, and collaboration among students, fostering engagement and enthusiasm for learning.
